I'm adding information as fast as possible. i don't have much time to work on this but when i do i'm working as efficiently as i can. i'm most familiar with the engine parts so i'll start with the engine. i've been asked what to check when purchasing a dirtbike. i'll try be as helpful as possible. One thing you'll want to check in the top end of the enging would be the compression. if you have a compression tester i recomend taking it with you. you will be able to tell how worn the piston rings are. if you rcompression is around 140psi then your engine is doing really well. if you're getting lower(less than 100) then you won't want to buy that bike. if this sounds like german to you then you can check compression in another way. you can use the kick start lever. a freely moving kick lever isn't good. it should be stiff or your compression isn't very good. the kick start lever will be stiff the larger the cc's of the bike.you should be able to use your hand to to see what the stroke of the piston is like. that's what you'll want to check in the top half of the engine The lower end is a bit more difficult. one thing to check is for oil in the tranny. If there are any metal shavings in there this bike is junk. you'll spend more fixing it than you would on the bike. Check all the gears expecially the top ones. make sure there is no popping out of gear when operating the clutch. if the clutch slips you should be able to bargain and get the price down. you'll want to get it fixed right away.
